This Morning's Gino wants you to say cheers for Comic Relief

A TOP chef has joined the host of celebrities urging the public to raise money for Comic Relief.

Gino D'Acampo, who appears on ITV's This Morning, is urging people to buy a charity tipple as part of Wine Relief.

He told the Mail: "The concept is very simple.

"Every time you buy a bottle of wine from the Wine Relief range, ten per cent goes straight to Comic Relief which helps people in the UK and Africa."

Red Nose Day falls on Friday, March 18, this year and Comic Relief is urging people to do something funny for money to raise cash for the charity.

Gino said: "Any charity that can raise money with a smile is a great cause to be a part of. "If you can do something funny for money that would be great, but if you are shy and don't want to get involved then you can help us by simply buying a nice bottle of wine."

Retailers selling Wine Relief tipples include Marks & Spencer and Wine Rack.

The Mail is teaming up with Comic Relief to distribute a 50,000 Red Nose Day Community Cash fund to organisations across the region.

Grants of between 500 and 1,000 are available to groups helping to transform lives.

Parent and toddler groups, equipment for youth groups, community festivals and befriending for older and isolated people are just some of the organisations that could benefit from the fund.

Groups that received grants from Comic Relief last year included Hull Family Action Group, which offers families in the Newington area of west Hull the chance to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.

Groups have until noon on Friday, March 11, to apply for Red Nose Day Community Cash.

The Two Ridings Community Foundation, an independent charity, will chair a specially formed grant allocation committee to decide which organisations are the most deserving.
