Help us catch these taggers

POLICE are asking the public for help to identify the creators of these nine graffiti "tags".

It comes after Luke Chadwick, 17, caused tens of thousands of pounds of damage after defacing the city with hundreds of graffiti tags for four years.

Another 14-year-old boy has now admitted seven graffiti offences in west Hull.

Officers from Humberside Police and Hull City Council interviewed the teenager after a scrawl on the wall of the disused Adult Education Centre in Coronation Road was linked to him.

He then admitted responsibility for a further six offences in the area and agreed to help clean up graffiti in the neighbourhood as reparation for his wrongdoing.

PCSO Steve Tobin said: "A lot of work has been put in by the police and council in order to try and combat graffiti across the city.

"Graffiti blights local communities by giving the impression that the area is unsafe and it is also extremely unsightly.

"Residents, shops, the local council and businesses have to spend thousands of pounds every year cleaning the graffiti off surfaces.

"I urge anyone who has information on individuals committing this type of crime to come forward."

The 14-year-old graffiti artist was identified with the help of the Hull Against Graffiti site – an graffiti database containing photographs of tags from across the city.

And Chadwick, of east Hull, was also identified through the site and was given a two-year Asbo after admitting 287 acts of vandalism.

Anyone with information about the creators of the ten pictured graffiti tags can contact Humberside Police on 0845 6060222. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
