Police officers taken to hospital after accident

TWO police officers were taken to hospital after their patrol car crashed into a brick wall and a sign.

The officers were responding to an emergency when the accident happened on the A610, Nuthall Road, Aspley at around 2.45am today.

The patrol car passenger suffered multiple fractures to his ankle and elbow and the driver sustained minor injuries. Both were taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre, where they remain.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident and no one else was injured.

Following the collision the A610 was closed while the vehicle was recovered and the road reopened at 6.30am.

Police are investigating the circumstances which led to the collision and would ask any witnesses to call Notts police on 0300 300 9999.
