In Brief

Do your bit with Sip For Stroke events this spring

EAST YORKS: Residents in Hull and the East Riding are being urged to organise Sip For Stroke events in spring.

The new campaign has been launched by The Stroke Association to raise money while having tea and cake with friends.

East Yorkshire residents are being invited to write off to the charity for a free recipe for blueberry cornmeal muffins which could be a healthy snack at such events.

The recipe was created by Wendi Peters, star of Bad Girls and Coronation Street, who made it to the finals of Celebrity MasterChef.

Anyone wishing to hold a tea party should e-mail sipforstroke@stroke.org.uk or call 0113 2019790.

HULL: A talk on the changes the body experiences after cancer will be held at Hull University's Dearne Building on Wednesday, March 9 at 5.15pm.

Dr Susan Peake will be discussing first person experiences of changed bodies and body image and looking at people who are living with amputations and prosthetics.

Her current interests are in the social and neurological effects of amputations, including phantom pain and body image.

Anyone with an interest in this field, or who has personal experience, is welcome to attend.

NORTH HULL: A Back To Basketball session will be held for Latvian and Lithuanian communities on Saturday.

The event will be held at St Mary's College in Cranbrook Avenue from 2pm to 4pm.
