Fill in the census ... because those who don't could cost our area millions

EAST YORKS: People in Hull and the East Riding have been urged to take part in the census and save councils millions in revenue.

Officials say local authorities lose 500,000 of future Government grants for every 1,000 people who shirk the population count.

Census figures help the Government decide how much money it awards councils over a ten-year period.

Preparations for next month's census are under way, with only weeks to go before March 27.

Residents will receive forms from the Office of Nationals Statistics or fill in online questionnaires.

Forms should be sent by April, when officials will visit to ensure all questionnaires are sent.
