Force sets up online survey to discover crime priorities

NOTTS police have set up an internet survey to find out what issues people most want officers to tackle.

The online survey cost 2,500 to develop, which the force says represents excellent value for money if it leads to more households in the county having their say on policing priorities in their own area.

Assistant Chief Constable Paul Scarrott said: "This is an exciting development and shows our commitment to making the best use of technology to communicate effectively with the people we serve."

In the past, the force has used an anonymous survey on paper to ask residents what matters to them and what they want police to focus on in.

The results are then used when neighbourhood policing teams consult the community on priorities for each area.

The new online survey will allow anyone with access to the internet to tell police what issues are affecting them.

Respondents can give more information about the offences being committed and the days and times incidents are happening.

They can also pinpoint exactly where problems are with a marker on a map.

Members of the public will still be able to complete the old surveys by contacting their local beat team, requesting a survey at local policing events or visiting their local police station.

To have your say on policing in your area visit www.neighbourhoodprioritysurvey.co.uk.

Alternatively visit www.nottinghamshire.police.uk and click the link to the survey on the right-hand side of the homepage.
