Sex offender vow by school's head

A PRIMARY school head teacher has reassured parents their children are safe after it was discovered a known sex offender was living nearby.

Gary Fullwood, head at Heathfield Primary, said everything was being done to make sure pupils were safe.

He said: "Child protection is Heathfield Primary and Nursery School's number one priority. We make sure that all necessary risks and assessments are completed and take every effort to ensure children's safety at all times. We do everything that we can to make sure that our pupils are safe at all times whilst in our care."

The offender is believed to have recently been released.

Mr Fullwood added: "Keeping children safe is of paramount importance. I would like to take this opportunity to reassure all parents and carers that they have the full support of both the school and the police. We will do everything within our power to help you to keep your children safe."
