A watchdog has met with three former trawlermen from Hull about their battle for compensation following the Cod Wars.
Parliamentary Ombudsman Ann Abraham came to the city last week to interview the men about their claims.
She is investigating allegations that qualification criteria for the compensation was changed between the scheme starting in 2000 and reopening several years later.
Former trawlerman Ken Grantley, of west Hull, said: "She was really nice and gave us a fair hearing."
Ms Abraham is expected to make a decision in the coming months.
