Nottingham City Council meeting adjourned after protest disturbance

POLICE removed protesters from both public galleries at Nottingham City Council following a stand-off.

The council temporarily adjourned its full council meeting after protesters were shouting at councillors about their budget plans, which include �33 million of cuts.

Police were called in to talk to protesters before they were eventually escorted out.

The public have now been banned from the meeting.

Nottingham City Council has said the cuts are necessary due to �60 million of cuts from the Government.

The meeting resumed at 5.30pm.
