A MARRIED man tried to kidnap a woman he had a one-night stand with after she spurned his advances.
Warren Smith, 40, plotted to kidnap care worker Claire Hudson, after becoming obsessed with her following a drunken encounter.
Along with his friend Sam Brockwell, 27, he hid in a bush outside her home and when she returned, Smith grabbed the car keys from her ignition and threw them to Brockwell.
Smith then dragged her out of her car screaming and bundled her into his own car.
It was only when she bit his hand that she was able to escape and run to the police station for help.
Smith shouted after her: "You can run, but next time I see you I will have a gun to your head."
Judge Jeremy Baker QC, sitting at Hull Crown Court, told Smith: "She was so scared and distressed she ran all the way to the police station.
"I'm quite satisfied, although she was not physically hurt, undoubtedly the psychological impact is both serious and significant."
Prosecutor Simon Waley said the pair slept together just once, after meeting through his wife.
Smith tried to kidnap her outside her home at 10.30pm on June 27 last year.
When the police later went to Smith's home in Wivern Road, east Hull, they found him lying on the sofa laughing about the incident. His wife lied to police, saying he had not left the house.
Smith pleaded guilty to conspiracy to kidnap and perverting the course of justice and has been jailed for two-and-a-half years.
Brockwell was jailed for 12 months and banned from driving for 12 months for conspiracy to kidnap and driving whilst disqualified.
Tracey Smith, 48, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, for perverting the course of justice.
