Authority rejects plans to reduce fire-fighting teams

Controversial plans to reduce fire-fighting crews from five members to four in Hull and the East Riding have been thrown out.

Humberside Fire Authority rejected the plans in a unanimous vote today at Humberside Fire and Rescue HQ.

However, the Fire Brigades Union is still predicting around 72 job losses among firefighters after the authority approved proposals to reduce services in other areas, saving 7m from their budget.
