EAST HULL: A community caf� made possible thanks to the Love You 2 Appeal, the Mail's charity of the year, has opened its doors at Dove House Hospice.
Dulcies Caf� was officially opened by the charity's mascot, Dulcie, whom the caf� is named after, at the Chamberlain Road site on Tuesday.
The launch was attended by chief executive John Fenwick, as well as other staff and volunteers.
The caf� is part of the redevelopment programme at the hospice and the appeal aims to raise �2.5 million to expand facilities on the site.
It will be open from 9am to 2pm from Monday to Friday.
The caf� will be run by volunteers and more are needed. To volunteer, call 01482 784343.
EAST RIDING: A woman from Willerby is preparing to run the London Marathon to raise money for the hospital where she underwent major hip surgery as a child.
Marie Walker, 30, had surgery on her hip at the Children's Hospital in Sheffield at the age of 13, after being diagnosed with congenital hip dysplasia, an abnormal formation of the hip joint.
The surgery involved remodelling the shape of Marie's hip joint.
She now wants to raise funds for the Children's Hospital Charity to show her appreciation for the care she received.
The marathon will take place on Sunday and Marie hopes to raise �500.

EAST RIDING: Residents are being reminded about a forthcoming blood donor session in Anlaby.
NHS Blood And Transplant has organised the session at Anlaby Park Methodist Church in Hull Road, Anlaby Common.
It will run from 2.15pm to 4pm and from 5pm to 7.30pm on Friday.
