Hull Tattoo Convention to feature artists from around the world

SOME of the finest tattoo artists from around the world are coming to Hull next month.

The Hull Tattoo Convention – now in its third year – will feature dozens of artists, with spectacular designs created on the day.

Organiser Mike Laws said: "The convention will feature about 80 of the best artists from the UK and as far away as Brazil.

"It is aimed at all people interested in the art of tattooing and the industry itself."

About 750 people attended last year's convention, and Mr Laws said he was hoping for an even bigger turnout this year.

The event will take place on Sunday, May 29, at the Bonus Arena, next to the KC Stadium in west Hull.

Mr Laws said: "Visitors will have the opportunity to treat themselves to body art.

"People thinking about having a tattoo will also be able to view artwork on bodies and flashcards.

"We have a lot of good artists for people to watch, a live band, a DJ, a bar and food.

"We always have people travelling from far and wide, in order to network, and just for the social side.

"It should be a good turnout – a lot of people are already talking about it.

"Hull's fascination with body art is reinforced by the fact the city has more than 20 tattoo studios.

"That number has increased in the past ten years – a decade ago you could count the number of parlours on one hand.

"Tattooing in general has boomed in the past few years.

"It's much more of a fashionable thing now."

Tickets for the convention, which runs from 11am to 8pm, cost 12 and are available on the door.

They can also be bought in advance for 10 plus a booking fee.
