TWO Nottingham men serving life for the murder of their friend have launched appeals against their convictions.
Polish nationals Krzysztof Zejmowicz, 42, of Radford Road, and Tomasz Ruskinski, 40, of no fixed abode, were found guilty of killing their 39-year-old friend Leszek Milon in January 2008.
They were jailed for life at Nottingham Crown Court.
But lawyers for both men yesterday urged judges sitting at London's Criminal Appeal Court to overturn their convictions as "unsafe" – because a juror at their trial worked at a prison where both men were on remand.
Lawyers said there were a "number of failings" which led to the officer serving on the jury and that there was a chance his view of the case could have been prejudiced by "gossip" in the prison.
Mr Milon was found dead at his home in Hyson Green, Nottingham – which he shared with Zejmowicz and another man – on January 19, 2008.
Lord Justice Richards, sitting with Mr Justice Roderick Evans and Judge Nicholas Cooke QC, reserved giving a ruling on the case until a later, unspecified, date.
