Protesters who blocked Hedon Road near to the Saltend roundabout have moved on.
The protesters - believed to be involved in a row over job losses at a biofuel plant nearby - had been sitting in the road causing severe delays but have now cleared the area.
Traffic had been able to get into Hull via the fly-over, but had been at a standstill leaving the city.
Although the road is now clear, traffic is moving slowly and there are still delays.
One driver who was caught up in the disruption told the Mail there had been more than 30 protesters blocking the road as well as others who were on the scene, but hanging back and are not actually stopping traffic.
"It was quite an intimidating situation with some drivers getting out to complain to the protesters, who are handing out leaflets," they said.
The protest started at about 8am and ended at about 9.30am.
