Sunshine flights spared at Humberside Airport: Ryanair to keep Alicante service

Ryanair flights to Alicante from Humberside Airport have been spared by the airline's decision to axe planes at the Spanish destination.

Ryanair is getting rid of nine of its 11 aircraft at Alicante due to a row over the use of airbridges.

However, managing director of Humberside Airport Tony Lavan explained that only winter services will be hit, and Humberside only runs summertime flights.

He said: "The Humberside to Alicante service with Ryanair is a summer 2011 programme and will therefore be unaffected by the recent announcement by Ryanair.

"Passengers can continue to book online with Ryanair to fly to Alicante from Humberside Airport this summer."

The route will begin on Tuesday and run until October.
