Traffic nightmare in east Hull and Holderness over Saltend protest

Commuters are facing major delays around Hedon Road, east Hull, and parts of Holderness over a "blockade" at the BP plant in Salt End.

Workers are blocking access to the site over "an industrial dispute", Humberside Police said.

There are long delays around Preston, the eastbound carriageway of the A1033 and at Salt End roundabout, which is blocked.

Motorists say traffic is backing up as far as Bilton and Preston and the Seven Seas roundabout.

School buses are also stuck

The Hedon Road westbound slip road is blocked and there is a lot of standing traffic in the area.

Police are at the scene.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find an alternative route.

* Songbirds Day Nursery and Kids Club in Preston has told us it is open despite the blockade.

Owner Susan Goodwin said: "It has been a nightmare for my staff, children and parents this morning! I had to walk to work from Preston."
