LSU Football: The Biggest Internal Obstacles to a BCS Championship

With the win over the Alabama Crimson Tide, the LSU Tigers are now the favorites to win the SEC and are in a perfect position to make the National Championship. They have a very fast and talented team as well as many other strengths.

But what are some of the obstacles they will have to overcome?

The main one I focus on is the quarterback controversy, which really has started after the win over Alabama. Quarterback Jarrett Lee has made enough plays to win this year but hasn't shown that he can lead his team from behind or take over games. He's been used more as a game manager than anything, as LSU leans on their running game and defense.

Quarterback Jordan Jefferson is expected to get some playing time as well after playing very well in the Alabama game. He took what the defense gave him and completed 60 percent of his passes and rushed for 43 yards.

I have no problem with playing two quarterbacks if it works, but if Les Miles isn't careful it could backfire. Jefferson is the more athletic quarterback and can make more plays with his feet, but he also has a history of turning the ball over.

The other thing that could hurt this LSU Tigers team is the fact that they have already gone through the toughest part of their schedule. They've beaten six ranked teams already and won the game of the year against Alabama.

It's very easy for this LSU team to overlook their future opponents as they are nowhere near the same caliber of the other teams they've beaten. LSU has yet to win anything and they still have to play talented teams in the Arkansas Razorbacks and probably Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship game.

The Tigers are a very talented team with a fantastic defense, great coach and a running game that puts their offense in position to score points. This team has everything it takes to win a National Championship.

It seems like the weaknesses are within themselves.
