Arkansas vs. LSU Football: 5 Halftime Adjustments for the Razorbacks

After a wild first half the Hogs are locked in a close one with an explosive LSU team and everything on the line.  Here are five adjustments Bobby Petrino and Co. need to make if they want to keep the Golden Boot and crash the BCS.

Start Over

The Razorbacks made their run early and the Tigers countered late.  Putting a seven-point deficit in perspective is going to be the key to Bobby Petrino’s halftime speech.  The Hogs need to feel good about having a chance in this game.

Give Tyler Some Time

So far, Tyler Wilson has done a beautiful job of moving around the pocket and making plays on the run.  That said, the Tigers’ all-world D-line he has put Wilson on his back a few too many times.  If the Razorbacks are going to be able to pull off a BCS-shaking win, they are going to have to limit their mistakes and that starts with giving Wilson enough time to make good decisions.

Running Game

The running game will be the key to keeping Tyler Wilson’s jersey clean.  If the Razorbacks can continue to pound the ball they will keep LSU’s pass rush on their heels.

Big Play on D

The only way the Hogs can take the crazy Cajun crowd out of the game is to come up with another turnover or two.

Positive Plays on First Down

Bobby Petrino rolled the dice on first down quite a few times in the first half.  Unfortunately, his gambles put the Hogs in 2nd- and 3rd-and-long situations too many times.  If Arkansas is going to pull the upset in the second half, Petrino needs to get more conservative on first down so the offense can stay ahead of the chains.
