Kyle Orton to the Chiefs: Orton Will Lead Kansas City Chiefs to AFC West Title

The Denver Broncos' loss is the Kansas City Chiefs' ultimate gain, as Kyle Orton arrives to save the day and deliver the AFC West with a cute little bow.

Christmas came early for Chiefs fans who thought the season was in the dumps. Really, all Kansas City needed was a gifted quarterback to run the offense.

You could argue that the Chicago Bears and Houston Texans needed a quarterback just as badly, but then you would be wrong. The Chiefs were in the most dire of needs for a QB.

After seeing Tyler Palko try to play quarterback blindfolded, I was convinced the Chiefs were doomed to failure for the rest of the season. That sentiment has been flipped on its head, as Orton brings hope and good fortune with him.

AFC West Remains Winnable

There is nothing like playing in a trash division. The West is where the mediocre can live a long life and the truly average can shine.

The top and bottom are separated by two games, making every game a precious one, but not a necessary one. Orton will no doubt ride the pine this Sunday, but he will get a shot immediately once Palko shows his true colors against the Steelers

Oakland has just as hard of a remaining schedule as the Chiefs, I have no confidence in Tebow-led Broncos and the Chargers continue to kill themselves.

Orton is Still a Fine Quarterback

This is the perfect situation for the pocket passer. The pressure is off him and he has a fine selection of receivers.

The fact that he doesn't have a million fans actually rooting against him will only serve to enhance his ability to deliver wins.

The one last issue is learning the playbook. He will no doubt get a dumbed-down version to work off of in the time being. As we have seen, even half an offense under Orton will be better than a full one with Palko.

There is also the obvious note of Orton wanting nothing more than to do the Broncos in after they threw him to the trash.

Look for a renewed Chiefs squad to rise the ranks in a mediocre division. All thanks can be directed to the Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow
