Callahan The Right Man For The Job

In every sport, the team captain is someone who symbolizes their respective franchise?s identity and is one that goes above and beyond the call of duty.

For the New York Rangers, this player is Ryan Callahan, which is why on Monday, the team named him captain along with alternate?s Marc Staal and Brad Richards. With the announcement, Callahan became the team?s 26th captain in franchise history and is also one of the youngest captains in team history at the age of 26.

This past season, there were times when team head coach John Tortorella repeated that Callahan was the team?s identity and with good reason. ?Cally? produced on a consistent basis, played in all situations, blocked shots, took the body and stuck up for his teammates when he needed to.
