Cardinals vs. Seahawks: 5 Halftime Adjustments Seattle Must Make

Today’s matchup against the Arizona Cardinals marks an important game for the defending division champion Seattle Seahawks. Seattle looks to avoid their first 0-3 start since 2002 in this heated NFC West division battle.

Let’s take a look at five adjustments the Seahawks must make if they want to come away with their first victory of the season.

1. Get Zach Miller More Involved

Seattle’s TE Zach Miller has been forced into a blocking role because of their inexperience on the O-line. The Seahawks should consider expanding his role by putting him in the slot and giving him more looks over the middle of the field.

2. Attack Deep

The Seahawks should start to take shots down the field to target the Cardinals safeties. Arizona safety Adrian Wilson has given up a number of big plays in the first two weeks and Seattle should look to capitalize on Arizona’s late safety help over the top.

3. Stop Campbell

The Seahawks MUST keep Tarvaris Jackson off the ground. DE Calais Campbell has been a monster on the Cardinals D-line, already recording a couple of sacks. Seattle needs to keep their eye on Campbell and maybe consider having Taylor step up and block for more protection.

4. Bring Help Over the Top for Browner

Seahawks CB Brandon Browner will be matched up on Cardinals star WR Larry Fitzgerald all game long. Fitz is one of most athletic and dynamic receivers in the NFL who can roll out a big play at any moment. Seattle needs to bring more safety help over the top to help contain Fitzgerald.

5. Find Sidney Rice

In the second half the Seahawks should continue to take advantage of mismatches on their WR Sidney Rice. Particularly when Cardinals’ safeties are forced into man coverage. Jackson and Rice should run more double moves and look for big plays down the sidelines.
