What is Juan Manuel Marquez thinking?
HBO’s 24/7 series is hyping up the third match between Manny Pacquiao and Marquez and after watching all four episodes…I was yawning.
Sure Marquez’s English isn’t very good, but it seemed as if every scene he did for the show was a major chore. You have to sell it and Marquez didn’t do his part.
Marquez went to the Philippines a few years ago wearing his “I beat Manny Pacquiao Twice” shirt. Marquez clearly he thinks he is the better fighter. This has really fueled Manny’s camp and the HBO cameras have shown us as much.
Marquez on the other hand is being humble and downplaying everything….exactly what you shouldn’t do for a pre-fight hype show.

Obviously, his performance on the show isn’t going to affect him in the ring…but it’s proof that the 38-year-olds star is diminishing into the night. All things considered, this is probably the last relevant fight of his career.
Maybe he’s just so focused on going out with a bang that he doesn’t have the time to play off the cameras, Or maybe he doesn’t want to make a fool of himself before the fight when he knows the punishment that is about to ensue.
There is no doubt that the 2011 version of Pacquiao could beat the 2008 version. The same cannot be said for Marquez. With the move up to the welterweight division, he is now a slower puncher, a horrible trait for a counter boxer like Marquez. He is an 8-to-1 shot to win and all of the public money is coming in on Pac-man.
If you were to know absolutely nothing about boxing and just started watching the 24/7 series, there is little doubt who you would predict to win.
Is that how Marquez wants to enter this bout?
