Kittens use up one of their nine lives after getting stuck in roof

THEIR daredevil antics led to a dramatic rescue by firefighters.
Now, four kittens who began life in Hessle Road are looking for a new home.
The tiny black-and-white felines were found by staff at Bread Cakes Galore, who heard miaowing sounds coming from inside their roof and went to investigate.
Dispatch packer Jackie Giddings said: "We heard the kittens before we saw them.
"One had fallen into a side panel at the back of our premises and we were able to get it out.
"But the other three were stuck, so we called the RSPCA."
The kittens, who are thought to have been born to a stray cat, were trapped in the roof void area – the unused space between the roof and the highest ceiling – of the bakery.
One kitten is believed to have become wedged down the chimney and another was stuck between two adjoining walls.
The RSPCA enlisted the help of Humberside Fire And Rescue Service, which regularly rescue stranded animals.
A spokesman for the service told the Mail: "A firefighter climbed into the roof void and removed the three kittens.
"Cats tend to get trapped quite often because they squeeze themselves into places, then get scared and don't move.
"They are the animal we are most often called about."
The kittens, now aged four weeks, were taken to RSPCA Hull and East Riding in Clough Road, Hull.
Receptionist Amanda Ali said they were in a sorry state when they were brought to the centre.
She said: "We think the kittens had been in the roof for a couple of days. They were really dirty and had to have a bath straightaway, which they didn't enjoy.
"They were really friendly but seemed a little bit shocked about what had happened to them.
"They are now being hand-reared by two of our staff at their homes."
Once the kittens are old enough they all be re-homed, staff say.
Ms Ali said: "We think the kittens will go on to make lovely pets.
"It would be great to see them go to good homes after their shaky start in life."
