Colin Inglis becomes Lord Mayor

Former city council leader Colin Inglis has been officially installed as Hull's 99th Lord Mayor.

The Labour councillor was also appointed Admiral of the Humber at a ceremony in the Guildhall today.

He becomes only the third person in the authority's history to have led the council and take the title of Lord Mayor.

He has chosen charities for the civic year are Hull Churches' Home From Hospital scheme, the Hull branch of Amnesty International and the Freetown Society, which promotes links with Hull's twin city in Sierra Leone.

Councillor Daren Hale has been appointed Deputy Lord Mayor for the coming 12 months.
