Wedding Bell Bikers to cycle 1,000 miles to attend marriage ceremony in Poland

NOT satisfied with just jumping on a plane, a cyclist from Hessle will bike more than 1,000 miles to attend a wedding in Poland.

Kevin Neadley, 26, will be cycling with his friends David and Ben Adams, from Hampshire, to the wedding in Poland in August.

The group have named themselves the Wedding Bell Bikers and hope the sponsored cycle will raise money for the British Red Cross.

The team will set off on August 1 and hope to reach Poland in time for the wedding of their friends, Daniel Levy and Marta Szymaniak, on August 12.

Mr Neadley, who has been training on cycle tracks around Hessle, said: "It was all David's idea really.

"He cycled around France and is a bit of an adventure nut.

"His wife isn't a good flyer, so they were going to have to go on land to the wedding anyway.

"This way is a just a bit different."

Mr Neadley was inspired to help the British Red Cross after working for the charity while studying at University Of Hull.

He worked in the international tracking and message service team, which helped people get in touch with loved ones in areas of conflict.

He said: "I was touched by the people I helped and came across the important work the British Red Cross carry out.

"They are a truly great organisation that has so many important roles and responsibilities both within the UK and abroad.

"The money we raise will go towards helping them to continue doing that work."

The team will be supported by Daniel's mum Claire Levy, David's wife Clare and Kevin's girlfriend Hannah, who is also Daniel's sister.

The women will drive vehicles carrying refreshments and first aid supplies and will be in charge of organising the accommodation each night.

Kevin, who now works in the financial sector in London, said: "I've been doing some training and have been in East Yorkshire cycling from Hessle to Bridlington.

"I've tried to do some form of cycling every week, such as spinning classes and cycling to work."

The team will be setting off from Hampshire before cycling through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany before arriving in Poland for the wedding.

They hope to complete the trek in ten days, averaging 100 miles per day.
