EAST YORKS: Waste firms interested in tendering for a new joint waste contract covering Hull and the East Riding will attend a one-day event at the city's Guildhall next week.

They will be briefed on the likely contract requirements following a decision by both local councils to terminate the current 25-year contract with waste firm WRG, which resulted in long-standing plans for a rubbish-burning incinerator to be scrapped.

EAST YORKS: Housing landlords from across Hull and the East Riding are being invited to have their say on issues ranging from recent benefit changes to debt enforcement at a free conference being held later this month.

The Humber Housing Partnership is hosting the event at Barton's Ropewalk venue on June 29.

HULL: Iconic band Sade have performed to thousands of fans in the UK as part of their first world tour for more than a decade.

Sade was formed in 1982 when members of a Latin soul band called Pride – bassist Paul Denman and guitarist and sax player Stuart Matthewman, both from Hull, and backing singer Helen Folosade Adu – formed a splinter group. Their last date was at London's O2 Arena last night.

Sade will now play a series of tour dates across the USA.

HULL: A new public health campaign to help people get fit for summer is running in Hull.

Motivational e-mails, as well as online support from other users, are being offered as part of the free action packs in the Get Ready For Summer campaign.

Four free health and fitness plans covering weight loss, healthy eating, getting fit and training to run 5km are included.

HULL: New members are invited to the next meeting of the Hull And East Riding Arthritis Care support group on June 23.

It will take place at Centre 88 in Saner Street, west Hull, from 1pm to 3pm.

EAST YORKS: Budding photographers have been asked to enter Sewerby Hall's Coast, Sea And Sky competition.

Entrants are expected to include either the coast, the sea or the sky from somewhere in East Yorkshire.

The winning photograph in each category will receive a professionally mounted print supplied by Ben Walker of Gallerina Studios.

BRIDLINGTON: A community will complete the final piece of a project this week that has seen them raise more than �1,200 to help renovate their neighbourhood.

Children and parents from Baptist Place will join East Riding Council's community play rangers to create a piece of community art on Friday.

HOWDEN: The Rotary Club of Howden has raised more than �4,500 for charity through its annual golf am:am last month.

The golfing event at Hessle Golf Club was hailed a success and attracted 34 teams.

The money raised will be donated to Polio Plus, The Daisy Appeal and Zane.
