City will show it's always in fashion

THINK fashion week, and the catwalks of London, Paris and Milan spring to mind.

But Hull will be hosting its own stylish extravaganza next week.

Fashion fans will be able to enjoy six days of events including makeovers, clothes swaps and even a fashion show inspired by Kate Middleton, the day before she marries Prince William.

It will culminate with a catwalk show at Hull's Holy Trinity Church.

The event is being organised by Hull Business Improvement District (Bid).

Hull Bid manager Kathryn Shillito said: "This is all about showcasing the best of what Hull has to offer.

"There really is something for everybody, from high-end designer labels to the economy end of fashion.

"The first Fashion Week last year was very successful and increased footfall in the city centre by 28,000 people."

Events will be held at St Stephen's shopping centre, the Prospect Centre and Princes Quay shopping centre throughout the week.

Mike Killoran, manager at Princes Quay shopping centre, said: "We have got such a big offer in Hull now that people don't have to go outside the city for clothing and fashion.

"This is about showcasing that."

Jim Harris, manager of St Stephen's shopping centre, said: "Fashion Week started last year with great success and this is building on that.

"It is a great event for the city."

Prospect Centre manager Peter Barber said: "This will help showcase Hull's fashion, whether it be from the major stores or our many independents.

"Everybody can get involved. It is a super opportunity to raise the profile of the business and the city."
