The WWE needs the Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett match to be amazing.
There is no doubt that Orton is one of the biggest stars in the WWE right. He has been built to become one of the greatest of all time since his arrival in the business 10 years ago. Barrett is nothing. Yet.
With Barrett getting legitimate heat lately and there being plenty of buildup to this match, this is one of the few aspects of this TLC PPV that should make WWE proud.
While the opportunity is grand, the participants need to show they are up to the challenge.
Orton and Cody Rhodes had the opportunity to steal the show earlier this season, but the match was lackluster and resulted in no real momentum boost for either star.
The upcoming match against Barrett will be a perfect test from the WWE to see if it’s the talent not getting over or Orton’s inability to put stars over in big matches.
Barrett has played the villain perfectly over the last few months. No one deserves this push more than Barrett and this is WWE’s way of testing his main-event worthiness.
If this match against RKO goes well, you can expect the WWE to start a serious push for Barrett towards the world title and an eventual championship feud against Orton.
As much as I have been against what Orton has become in terms of boring me on a nightly basis with his gimmick, he is the perfect kind of wrestler for the main event of a show. If Barrett shows the WWE that he can help carry a card, it won’t be long before he is wearing the world title.
This is WWE’s test PPV. They are seeing if all the stars they have developed over the last few years will be able to carry a card on their own. For the fans sake, I hope Vince McMahon is impressed.
