After the Jerry Sandusky scandal spiraled out of control last month, Penn State decided to fire Joe Paterno late on November 9th.
Apparently that night, he was given an envelope with a phone number on it, and when he called the number, Paterno was told he was relieved of his duties.
But this morning the Penn State Board of Trustees had to 'officially fire' Paterno. The board met, and the meeting lasted four minutes, according to Sara Ganim of The Patriot-News.
The board voted unanimously, and board president Steve Garban said:
“Due to extraordinary circumstances, the board needed to act swiftly and decisively Nov. 9. We believe that immediate action was necessary and we stand by those decisions."
So even though we all knew the JoePa reign was over, now, it's official.
