The College Quarterback That Football Junkies Are Obsessed With Right Now Is One Step Closer To Going Pro

USC junior QB Mark Barkley has filed paperwork with the NFL draft advisory board, ESPN reports.

This doesn't mean he's going to leave USC. It just means the NFL is going to tell him where he'd likely be selected in the draft.

It's pretty standard for top-tier underclassmen to take this step.

But given how Barkley is shooting up a lot of people's draft boards, it's hard not to read this as him moving closer to going pro.

Barkley burst onto the scene by putting on a passing clinic in a high-profile game against Oregon two weeks ago.

And now it's become trendy to say he *could* be a better pro than Stanford phenom Andrew Luck.

Barkley has been non-committal about whether he'll stay or go. But by filing paperwork with the NFL draft advisory board, he's definitely taking a peek at the pros.
