The main event at UFC 145 pits the heavily favored Jon “Bones” Jones against the outlandish Rashad “Suga” Evans in a fight most believe will be a romp.
With the light heavyweight title up for grabs, it’s easy to see why fans so heavily favor Jones, who is currently on a run of sheer dominance that has yet to really been displayed in the sport.
But that doesn’t mean Evans can’t do the un-thinkable. Jones is beatable and here are three suggestions to ensure that happens tonight.
Take Advantage of the Power Punch
Jones may be incredibly elusive, but he is susceptible to punishing blows…something Evans holds in his arsenal.

Look no further than his right hooks to the chin of Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin and Tito Ortiz that all swung each respective fight.
Evans will have to display patience when thinking about going for the power punch, but if he is able to land multiple chin shots in the first round then he’ll have the opportunity to dominate the rest of the fight.
Make it a Wrestling Match
We don’t really know how Jones reacts when he’s on his back struggling to get an opponent off him. “Bones” makes a living off his speedy delivery—when he’s in control.
What happens when Evans has him in a compromising position?
It’s certainly easier said than done, but it’s one of the best strategies to wear him down for more potential deadly right hooks later in the fight. A straight boxing match is going to end in a “Bones” romp.
Embrace the Hate

Evans has become a Floyd Mayweather-figure of sorts for UFC fans and the hate spewed in his direction is rather remarkable. He may as well soak it up and use that as fuel to destroy a fighter in Jones who is looked at as a golden boy of sorts.
“Suga” has gotten in trouble for grabbing his crotch after winning in the past and seems to be somewhat of a villain in the sport.
The crowd isn’t going to be on his side; use the hate as fuel. Take the crowds antics out on Jones for that additional mental edge. It may be a minor thing when inside the octane, but digging deep and embracing the hate can result in the mega upset.
Evans is the sports’ only chance to beat Jones right now and it’s possible he can do it, but the room for error is toothpick-thin.
It’s going to be fun.
