Fans of the team wearing burnt orange were treated to a rare occurrence at DKR today.
For the second week in a row the Longhorns lost to a foe from the state of Oklahoma, dropping a 38-26 decision to Oklahoma State on Saturday.
This one was not quite as ugly as last week's 55-17 beating by the Sooners, but Texas fans have to be glad their team does not face another unit from Okieland.
But that is not the event that made the stadium explode twice within 12 seconds of game play.
This week the game was highlighted by back-to-back kickoff returns for scores to start the third quarter.
OSU's Justin Gilbert returned the opening kick of the second half 100 yards to put the Cowboys up 28-10.
But it didn't last for long.
Not to be outdone, Texas running back Fozzy Whittaker returned the ensuing kickoff 100 yards to pull the Longhorns within 28-17.
That's right—back-to-back 100-yard kickoff returns for touchdowns, one for each team. Watch in the video above.
Whittaker also took one back last week against the Sooners. Neither was enough, however, as the Longhorns came out on the short end of the 38-26 score.
It was the first time consecutive kicks had been returned for scores in a Div. I college football game since 2005, when Ball State had a 94-yard return followed by an 88-yarder by Ohio.
