BCS Rankings: Boise State and Stanford Not Getting Enough Respect

Boise State and Stanford could beat any team in the nation, but they may not get the chance because they are not getting the respect they deserve in the polls.

Here is why these two teams deserve more.

No. 4 Boise State

Boise State is struggling with a problem they have become all too familiar with: they don't have the same strength of schedule as the teams in front of them.

However, strength of schedule or not, this is a complete team and they are showing it week after week.

Their balance is on display in their 10th and 11th rankings in points scored and allowed this season.

This defense isn't as dominant as LSU or Alabama, but it is a very solid unit, and they can defend the pass as well as the run.

That said, it is the offensive side of things that sets Boise State apart.

Kellen Moore leads what may be the nation's most efficient attack. He is hitting a mind boggling 76.3 percent of his passes for 24 touchdowns and five interceptions.

He is also averaging an impressive 8.8 yards per pass attempt. The Broncos can also run the ball. Leading rusher Derek Martin has 743 yards on 5.3 yards per carry.

This offense can score on anyone, and their defense will not be dominated.

No. 6 Stanford

Stanford is plagued by the same problem that ails Boise State. They have a weak strength of schedule.

However, this can't hide the fact that they are a dominating and complete team this year. Their closest margin of victory is 26 points.

The most impressive thing about Stanford is that they are getting better every week. This team is young in the trenches, and as the lineman are maturing during the season Stanford is improving.

Stanford played their first ranked opponent this week in Washington and handled them 65-21.

While the 65 points is obviously impressive what may be even more impressive is the 21 the defense held them to.

That number was 10 points lower than any other output for the offensively prolific Huskies. They also didn't score seven of those 21 points until the game was all but over and the subs were in.
