Early Rankings

from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN, So, full disclosure before you read and rip these Power Rankings.

I made no effort to look at my pal Scott Burnside?s season-opening rankings from last week because I didn?t want to soil my mind, so please don?t whine about your team being dropped in the order despite not losing a game.

1. Detroit- A super start by the perennial contenders. Jiri Hudler is looking like a solid bet to have a career season this year.

2. Buffalo- Oh yeah, baby! Our pick to win the Northeast Division is off to a flying start after sweeping their games in Europe. How about rookie center Luke Adam, eh?

3. Philadelphia- Impressive road wins in Boston and New Jersey to start the season for the new-look Flyers. Rookie Matt Read looks like a Calder Trophy threat.
