Boise State absolutely crushed Fresno State 57-7 in their Friday night ESPN game in the Central Valley of California. Everyone assumed Boise State would win this game, but the sheer dominance of the win sent a message to poll-voters.
So let's compare Boise State against Fresno State to the BCS teams that played Fresno State.
So far this season Fresno State has lost to Cal 36-21, Nebraska 42-29, and Ole Miss 38-28. The only Fresno State home game amongst those three was the Ole Miss game. How did Boise State stack up against them?
Well, in the first half Fresno State had at least scored 14 points in each of those three games and was even leading Nebraska at the half. That was in Nebraska mind you. Against the Broncos, Fresno State managed only eight possessions which led to four three-and-outs, two fumbles lost, one punt blocked, and seven penalties for 68 yards, leading to zero points.
At the half, Boise State put up 37 points—more then Cal in the whole game, one less then Ole Miss in the whole game, and it took Nebraska the better part of four quarters to reach that mark.
Another impressive stat is the Broncos scored 101 unanswered points through seven quarters against Fresno State.
As for game stat comparisons, check below. Also, mind you the Boise State starting offense and defense came out with six minutes left in the third quarter, so this would have been much much worse for the Bulldogs.
