SEC Football Top 150 Players: No. 68, Ronald Powell, Florida LB

The SEC Blog will be counting down the top 150 players in the SEC every day, concluding on Aug. 30, at the start of the college football regular season.

68. Ronald Powell, No. 7, Florida Linebacker

2011 stats: 32 tackles, nine tackles for loss, six sacks, one forced fumble

Strengths

Powell is loaded with potential. He was the No. 1 recruit in the country in 2010 by Rivals.com. He's quick off the edge at the BUCK linebacker position and has a nose for the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. The 6'4", 250-pounder is a star in the SEC and has all of the skills to repeat the feat at the NFL level once he moves on.

Weaknesses

He suffered a torn ACL during spring practice, which has put his 2012 season in doubt. Head coach Will Muschamp told ESPN.com at the SEC spring meetings that he is holding out hope that Powell could return to his Gator defense this season.

2012 Prediction

Even if Powell does come back in 2012, a torn ACL is one of those injuries that takes time to develop a comfort level with even after being medically cleared. It's certainly possible that he is cleared, but he might only see the field this season if Florida really needs him.
