Arnold Palmer Invitational 2012: Tiger Woods Win Will Carry over to Masters

Tiger Woods is all smiles, and there's no secret as to why.

Arguably the most dominant golfer in the history of the sport, Woods is back to his old form from his driving game to his putting game.

Back in action for the first time since withdrawing from the World Golf Championships Cadillac Championship, Woods was able to come out on top at the 2012 Arnold Palmer Invitational despite the doubt looming over the former No. 1 golfer heading into the tourney.

Woods finished with a score of 13-under for the tournament, winning by five strokes over Gareme McDowell in what was a two-under final round for Tiger.

It was his first official PGA Tour victory since 2009, ending a drought that had been stretching far too long for as talented a golfer as Woods is.

An injury to his left achilles is what had Woods withdrawing from the WGC Cadillac Championship several weeks ago, as struggling from injuries was one of the big reasons why Woods was overlooked heading into the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

For the last several seasons, injuries have held Woods back from competing at the top of his game, along with the issues in his personal life. The off-course issues have also died down lately, as Woods is now able to play with a clearer mind.

The biggest difference, however, has been with his game. He has dramatically improved his swing and has been putting the ball on the greens efficiently. His putting has also been a thing to watch, going for 20 birdies and just five bogeys in the tourney.

Heading into the Masters, Woods is playing arguably the best golf he has played since 2009, as he will carry this momentum into the Masters.

The two factors that were separating Woods from a surge back to the top of the sport were his injuries and paparazzi following his personal life, both of which are no longer issues for Woods.

With these problems put to rest, Woods has been able to improve his game, as it is clear the former force in the golf world is back.

Expect big things from Woods at the Masters, as there is no doubt that a clear-minded, healthy Woods is poised for a strong run in the 2012 tournament.
