The Memphis Grizzlies are once again entertaining trade talks for shooting guard O.J. Mayo and this time the New Jersey Nets have been involved, according to CommericalAppeal.com.
Two proposed deals for Mayo—one involving shooting guard Anthony Morrow and another involving point guard Jordan Farmar, cash and a draft pick—have apparently lost traction over the weekend.
The Nets need to do whatever it takes to make a deal involving Mayo a reality. Even if it is just for the sake of point guard Deron Williams.
If they can make their star guard happier for a little bit at least, it could go a long way in an attempt to re-sign him, via HoopsVibe.com
New Jersey must face the facts now. They stink. Williams is frustrated and has no weapons to play with. They have to get him some talent around him or he's no doubt gone.
Acquiring Mayo accomplishes several things. For one, it can't hurt. What's there to lose at this point? It also can go a long way to make a statement to Williams.
It can say they are being active in trying to improve.
They can also tell their point guard that they won't qualify Mayo, who would be due a $7.4 million offer for the 2012-13 season, to save the cap space for Orlando center Dwight Howard.

Mayo also gives them another piece to possibly include in a deal for Howard. That way, they don't have to wait until the summer to make Williams happy.
New Jersey must gamble and take some chances. Mayo is a gamble for now, and one they must take a chance on immediately.
