Jay Paterno is in a very precarious position right now.
He has seen his father get fired from Penn State and a new head coach introduced, and he doesn't know if he will still have a job with the university. He spoke to Tom Rinaldi of ESPN about what has been going on with his father and Jerry Sandusky.
Paterno has spoken a few times before this, but never have we heard him talk this openly or candidly about everything that has happened over the last two months.
You can see the love and admiration that Jay has for his father, and how much all of this is just ripping him apart. He does his best to sound optimistic about the future, but there is just a little look on his face as he talks that shows the toll that everything going on with his dad has taken on him.
When talking about Sandusky, Paterno really didn't have a lot to say on that topic, which is probably for the best.
He could be angry and vindictive about everything that Sandusky has been accused of doing, but he gives the politically correct answer, saying that he wants to wait for all of the facts to come out before saying anything.
That can't be easy for Paterno, knowing that he has the stage to rip Sandusky to shreds—and no one would think less of him if he did. But instead, he takes the high road and wants to wait for everything to play out.
There is a lot of information contained in this six-minute video, though Paterno doesn't say much of anything. It is fascinating to hear him talk about everything that has happened, and he handles all the questions as well as can be expected.
