WWE Smackdown: Why Christian Is Needed More Than Ever on Friday Nights

While I was watching Smackdown the other night, I noticed that there was a void in the programming. This void has been there for some time, but I thought it would be filled by now.

That void is Captain Charisma himself, Christian.

Christian has been out of action for several months now with an ankle injury and hasn't wrestled since before the Survivor Series.

The reason that this is a problem is that I see Christian coming back as a face when he returns. Smackdown is really heel heavy right now, and with the "injury" to Orton, there aren't many credible faces left on the Samckdown roster, which doesn't allow the plethora of heels to be put over.

As many of us already know, Christian is an extremely talented wrestler that can succeed as face or heel. He can put on a good to great match will pretty much anybody he goes against.

Christian is needed now to put on matches with up-and-coming heels to help them get over. He has the ability to lose a match but not  any of his shine, which is what the roster absolutely needs.

Here is my wishful scenario.

Everybody is talking about Randy Orton being the surprise return entrant for the Royal Rumble. I say, why not Christian? He has been out of action long enough that his surprise return at the Rumble would be draw a huge pop from the crowd.

Christian wins the Rumble as a face and chooses to face Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania for the World Heavyweight Championship. With Bryan's heel turn becoming a reality, this could be an epic match at Wrestlemania.

Christian has stolen the show before at the Grandest Stage of Them All with his appearances in TLC matches to say the least. A World Title match against Bryan could definitely steal the show again.

How perfect of a time would that be for him to win the World Title again? The night after he (most likely) inducts his best friend Edge into the WWE Hall of Fame. His celebration would be on par with the Eddie and Benoit celebration at Wrestlemania XX.

On his Road to Wrestlemania, Christian could play a vital role in getting over more heels. Feuds with Drew McIntyre, Hunico, and Jinder Mahal would help kick-start—or re-kindle in the case of Drew—the build of these younger guys.

As we have seen before, Christian can definitely do all of the above.

Smackdown needs Christian more than ever right now to do this again.
