Texans vs. Colts: Despite Miracle Win, Indy Still on Track to Secure No. 1 Pick

Was Peyton Manning using some sort of special super power on Thursday night?

Somehow, some way, the Indianapolis Colts shocked the Houston Texans 19-16 to vault themselves in the two-win club.

This “special” club also includes the St. Louis Rams and the Minnesota Vikings.

So did Manning’s super powers and a last-minute Dan Orlovsky drive just ruin the Colts' chances of landing surefire No. 1 pick Andrew Luck?

Nope!

The Colts still hold the tiebreakers (or don’t hold them I guess), over both teams, and would have to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road in Week 17 in order to receive a draft pick other than No. 1.

Three very important tidbits that Come from this miracle win:

The Rams May Have a Huge Dilemma on Their Hands

Sure, they just drafted Sam Bradford No. 1 overall in the 2010 draft, but what do they have to show? A 7-9 campaign and a disastrous 2-12 mark this season. He has regressed in his second year and is no longer a shoo-in for greatness like he once appeared to be.

If the Rams lose out and the Colts beat the Jags, St. Louis is going to have an incredibly difficult decision on their hands.

Imagine Adrian Peterson and Luck on The Same Team

And you thought the NFC North was already a tough division. Imagine the offense with those two on the same team.

Wow.

The Colts Want Manning Back

The effort displayed last night was incredible. They had the intensity of a team fighting for their playoff lives. Teams with one win just don’t do that.

It’s clear that Manning is by far the most respected person on the team, and the players don’t want to see him get shoved out of the way for the next best thing.

This is the team’s opportunity to make sure Manning stays in Indy, and now it’s more than a possibility that they can beat an awful Jaguars team that features quite possibly the worst quarterback in the league in Blaine Gabbert.

After Luck was linked to the Colts for the last two months, everything has changed as the fortunes of the franchise hangs in the balance till the very end.

The fate of the Cots franchise will be decided in Week 17.
