Good For Gary Bettman

from Pat Caputo of the Oakland Press, Of course, the NHL is patting itself on the back for all its playoff games being on “national television” for the first time. But that’s not really true, unless the nation has Channel 69,892 — or whatever they have NBC Sports on your cable or satellite system.

At least, the network has renamed itself. It used to be called “Versus,” which I always felt stood for Gary Bettman “Versus” anybody who actually cares about hockey and doesn’t want it ruined by somebody I’d actually pay to see in a local beer league game (maybe Brendan Shanahan would help him pull his sweater over his shoulder pads after it takes Bettman 45 minutes to figure out how to put on his gear. Or at a minimum, give show him a video how to do so)....

The NHL has long struggled to find its balance. Yeah. Even before Gary Bettman became commissioner.

For those of us who view hockey as the greatest invention in the history mankind, it’s been a source of consistent frustration.

It’s particularly disheartening this spring to observe it getting worse.

And knowing Gary Bettman could care less what we think. Nor ever will.
