I talked to Suter Saturday night, and he wanted to make it clear that he is not ruling out re-signing with the Predators. He felt as if his words were misinterpreted Friday when he said he wouldn?t re-sign by the trade deadline. He said he decided to announce he wouldn?t sign by then to prevent it from becoming a distraction for the hottest team in the league. The Predators have won 12 out of the last 14 games
The Predators certainly were hoping to get Suter re-signed soon, but his announcement probably doesn?t change much for them. Given how well the team is playing, it seems unlikely that GM David Poile would trade Suter. How could he face fans in Nashville if he traded a 27-minute defenseman when they have a shot at winning the Stanley Cup?
