Find out who holds key to your heart on night at races

BEVERLEY Racecourse is hoping its Lucky In Love race night will hold the key to the best night out of the year.

Tickets have now gone on sale for the award-winning themed event, which was launched last season.

The fun networking event in June will see race-goers given either a padlock or key on arrival at the Westwood course.

Race-goers are then challenged with finding their match during the race night.

Although the name of the event suggests the meeting is for singles, it is actually designed to get race-goers talking to each other, even if they are not looking for love.

Sally Iggulden, chief executive of Beverley Racecourse, is convinced the fixture will be another winner.

She said: "We were absolutely delighted with the fantastic response to last year's event and this year it is set to be even bigger and better.

"Anyone who didn't get a chance to come along last year should not miss Lucky In Love in 2011. You don't need to be single – this is simply about getting people networking and having a good time."

People can get involved in the Lucky In Love challenge as much or as little as they want at the fixture on Thursday, June 16.

But race-goers who do find their matching padlock or key will be entered into a prize draw.

There will also be a best dressed competition on the night to encourage people to dress to impress.

Last year's inaugural event scooped a gold award for best event at the Chartered Institute Of Public Relations (CIPR) Awards last November.

Miss Iggulden said: "Winning the Gold Award in the CIPR Awards gave Lucky In Love the seal of approval from the very best in the events industry and we expect tickets for this year's event to sell out incredibly quickly."

Almost 4,000 people attended last year's event and although it is not all-ticket, race-goers are already snapping up tickets at 20 for the premier enclosure, 13 for the grandstand or 5 for the course enclosures.

Meanwhile, thousands have joined a ticket stampede for The Journal Ladies' Day on August 10.

All 1,600 tickets for the most popular premier enclosure sold out on the day they went on sale – a record for the fixture.

About 3,000 tickets have also been sold for the main enclosures.

But race officials stress there are still about 5,000 tickets available for the paddock and grandstand enclosures.
