The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Signing A Paralyzed Football Player Is The Coolest Story You Will Hear Today

Eric LeGrand

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that they have signed former Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand, who was paralyzed in 2010 while playing for Rutgers (via Adam Schefter).

The Bucs are coached by Greg Schiano, who was the coach at Rutgers at the time LeGrand was injured.

NaplesNew.com asked Schiano about the signing...

"Leading up to the draft, I couldn't help but think that this should've been Eric's draft class...This small gesture is the least we could do to recognize his character, spirit, and perseverance. The way Eric lives his life epitomizes what we are looking for in Buccaneer Men."

LeGrand has been inspirational story to many people in his recovery. He helped lead the Rutgers football team out for a game last season (see picture above), and has tweeted out pictures showing his recovery.
