Workers who lost their jobs at the Vivergo plant at Saltend will be back on site protesting again tomorrow morning if talks break down.
Discussions are continuing today in a bid to resolve the lengthy and bitter dispute involving 400 construction employees.
The GMB union, Vivergo, main contractor Aker Solutions and mediation group ACAS have been sitting round the table for several days.
Workers have been demonstrating at Saltend for six weeks after losing their jobs when subcontractor Redhall Engineering Solutions Ltd fell out with Vivergo.
GMB senior organiser Les Dobbs said: "Talks have been constructive, but we have still to come to a resolution.
"We don't want to pre-empt anything, but I think they will conclude this afternoon."
Workers were due to be briefed this morning to update them on how the talks are progressing.
Protesters have previously blocked off Hedon Road, causing misery for motorists, and have also marched through Hull city centre to highlight their plight.
