Tim Pawlenty?s campaign book is called ?The Courage to Stand.? But standing is pretty easy. Most of us do it every day. I did it just a few minutes ago. What I?d like to see Pawlenty do is get the courage to answer this question:
In case you don?t feel like watching the video, Wonk Room?s Igor Volsky asks Pawlenty, ?Do you support the Medicare cuts in [Ryan?s] plan that he keeps from Obamacare?? Pawlenty?s answer is a resounding ?Anybody else have a question besides this guy?? I?ll mark that down as a ?present.?
Pawlenty?s dodge is understandable. Like many other Republicans, he previously suggested the Affordable Care Act?s Medicare cuts were ?unrealistic assumptions.? Now they?re the appetizer to the much more ambitious cuts in the Ryan plan. The courage to stand, indeed.
