A NOTTS MP has welcomed police action to stop people meeting in Blidworth Woods for group sex.
Sherwood MP Mark Spencer said the issue had been highlighted by constituents and councillors.
He said: "This is happening all the time. There is pornography and other things found there. You would not want your kids coming into contact with that sort of stuff."
Mr Spencer said the internet was full of sites that named Blidworth Woods as a popular meeting spot for group sex.
Chief Superintendent Dave Wakelin said the law on such activity was a grey area and force policy was to prevent it, rather than prosecute.
"We have put together a range of working practices with the council to prevent this activity causing alarm to people using the woods for dog walking and cycling activities," he said.
"Last year, what proved effective was to put officers on patrol through the car parks of these particular sites."
