Firefighter who gave dog the kiss of life during rescue shortlisted for national award

HULL: A firefighter who pulled a dog out of a smoke-filled house and gave it the 'kiss of life' has been shortlisted for a national award.

The Dogs Trust has announced Mick Dunn has been shortlisted for the Dogs' Best Friend award at the 2011 Dogs Trust Honours.

Mick, of Clough Road Fire Station, saved Sunny, an eight-year-old former rescue dog, from its owners' north Hull home on March 16.

He said: "It's an honour to be shortlisted for such an award as I am a huge dog-lover myself. I was just doing my duty and many other firefighters would have done the same."

A panel including Graham Norton will select and announce the winners in London on June 1
